Girl In The Year Above are an Irish and Cornish band spearheaded by lyricist and vocalist Jennifer Ball, who is herself Cornish and Irish, alongside guitarists Nathan Coen and David Kennedy, bassist Shane Kennedy, pianist Jeanie White and drummer Adam Betts. Their music pairs Celtic storytelling with a bold, emotionally charged edge, built on a message they describe simply as living truthfully, feeling deeply and embracing the mess of being alive. The band features on the soundtrack to the Peaky Blinders film with a cover of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' - the first time they had ever been in a studio - which Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja called the most sublime and beautiful interpretation of the song anyone has done. They have toured with Seb Lowe, Razorlight and The Kooks, and played Other Voices and Tramlines.
