Dermot Henry is a Wiltshire-born songwriter whose debut EP Aiming Torches At The Sun was released through Adventure Recordings and Island Records UK. Raised on Nina Simone, Tom Waits, Adrianne Lenker and Elliott Smith, he sharpened his voice busking in Paris, where he spent a year performing regularly at a local bar and at spots across the city. His writing blends indie and folk with something of the early 1970s Laurel Canyon school, and the EP - recorded in Frome with Dom Monks - is built on rustic guitars, instinctive vocals and warm room detail, shaped by movement rather than polish. He has toured continuously, playing venues large and small across the country.
