Candar are a London-based rock duo with Devon roots - Ella Crossland on vocals and guitar and Finn Mcauley on drums - who describe themselves as a sophisticated messy rock duo. They met at Saunton Road Studios in their home town of Braunton in north Devon and launched Candar in January 2023, moving to London after lockdown and playing sweaty clubs there; a spontaneous session with Sean Genocky cemented their sound and led to a deal with Recognition Sound. Soulful, melodic vocals sit over dirty riffs and messy grooves. Their debut single was a retake of the Doris Day song Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps, and since playing Glastonbury in 2023 they have headlined stages at Goldcoast and Oceanfest.
